Environmental stewardship is a priority. For the 1,306 acre site, wetland impacts have been limited to a minor 0.18-acre wetland disturbance, which has been mitigated at a 2-to-1 ratio, and a small creek crossing. For every 1 acre of forest cleared, we are conserving 2 acres of forest.
The project also implements seasonal tree clearing restrictions to protect bat habitats, along with stringent erosion and sediment control measures, water quality monitoring, and site restoration with native vegetation to minimize its environmental impact.
Further, the project is helping to restore the natural stream channel on-site that became diverted to Grassy Path after years of erosion. Riparian buffers are preserved along major tributaries to and along the main channel of Black Creek, wetland impacts were minimized and avoided where possible, and baseflow in Black Creek will be increased by realigning more than 1,500 linear feet of stream channel so that it will flow directly into Black Creek.
With these measures, the project is not expected to have significant adverse environmental effects.
